Young Horticulturist Competition
The Young Horticulturist Competition is an annual event that brings together finalists from all seven sectors of horticulture. Winners from each sector's individual competitions come together to compete in a two-day national event, held in Auckland.
The winner of the New Zealand Young Grower of the Year goes on to represent the commercial fruit and vegetable growing sector in the following year’s Young Horticulturist of the Year competition. We’re excited to have Grace Fulford, the 2024 Young Grower of the Year, representing our sector in the 2025 event.
2025 Competition Dates:
Wednesday 5 & Thursday 6 November
Location: Karaka, South Auckland
Launched in 2005, the competition is managed and run by the RNZIH Education Trust, a voluntary group of industry professionals.
The Trust’s vision is to "help seed the future now" by attracting the best talent from across the horticultural sector, encouraging them to engage in and invest in the competition.
The RNZIH Education Trust manages the Young Horticulturist of the Year competition on behalf of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture (RNZIH), sponsors, and the wider horticulture industry.
