Sirius Tmati Smith

Raised in Waipukurau and now based in Wairoa, Sirius has worked with Tatau Tatau Horticulture for the past six years and has spent the last three years in a foreman role, leading crews and overseeing daily orchard operations. Sirius has completed Level 2 and 3 Primary Industry qualifications through EIT, including Fruit Production and Operational Skills, and is currently working toward his Level 4 Fruit Production qualification. After competing in the Young Grower of the Year in 2024, he is returning for the 2025 competition. Passionate about horticulture and the future potential of the Wairoa region, Sirius brings strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills to the industry. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and golf, while his wife and young daughter continue to inspire him to grow both personally and professionally.
